InstaSPY is a free Instagram story viewer that works in your browser. Type any Instagram username into the search box above and you can watch that account's current stories, saved highlights, reels and posts anonymously, without an Instagram account and without logging in. It never asks for your Instagram password.

An Instagram story viewer is a website that displays the stories a public Instagram account has posted, without you having to open the Instagram app or sign in. Stories are the short photos and videos that appear in a circle at the top of the app and disappear after 24 hours. They are often where accounts post their most up-to-date content: a shop announcing today's opening hours, a musician sharing a ticket link, a creator showing behind-the-scenes clips, or a news account covering a live event.
On the official Instagram website, visitors without an account are quickly blocked by a sign-up wall, and stories are usually the first thing hidden. When you are logged in, every story you open adds your username to the owner's viewer list. A story viewer solves both problems. You can see public stories without creating an account, and because you never use an Instagram account to watch, there is no username of yours that can appear in the list of viewers.
InstaSPY is built around that simple idea. It is not a social network and it does not try to replace Instagram. It is a lookup tool: you search one public username, you see what that account has chosen to share publicly, and you leave whenever you want.
When you search a username, InstaSPY requests the public profile information for that account and the content attached to it: the profile picture, name, bio, follower counts, any stories that are currently live, the highlights pinned to the profile, recent posts and reels. All of this is information that the account owner has published to everyone. InstaSPY then shows it in a clean page that loads in a normal browser on any phone, tablet or computer.
The search happens on our servers, not inside an Instagram account. That is why you never need to connect Instagram, approve permissions, or type a password. It is also why your own Instagram profile, if you have one, is never involved. There is nothing to link your viewing to a username, because no username is used.
Results usually load in a few seconds. If an account has no story right now, the stories tab will simply be empty. That is normal: stories expire after 24 hours unless the owner saves them as a highlight. In that case you can still open the highlights tab, where saved stories stay visible for as long as the owner keeps them on the profile.
That is the whole process. There is no app to install and nothing to configure. Because InstaSPY runs in the browser, it works the same way on iPhone, Android, Windows, Mac and Chromebook.
Many people who want to see a story are not on Instagram at all. Some deleted their profile, some never wanted one, and some simply do not want another app collecting data about them. Parents checking a public school or sports club page, relatives following a family member's public art account, journalists covering a public figure, and small business owners keeping an eye on suppliers all have good reasons to read public stories without joining the platform.
Others do have an account but prefer not to use it for every view. Maybe they do not want a story they opened to show up in someone's viewer list, or they want to look at a competitor's public marketing without it being obvious. InstaSPY works for both groups. It does not ask you to log in to Instagram, it does not ask you to create an account to search, and it does not attach your identity to anything you view.
Avoid any tool that asks for your Instagram username and password. Handing your login to a third party risks your account being locked, hacked or used to send spam. A legitimate viewer never needs your credentials, because it only reads public content.
There are three common ways to look at someone's Instagram stories. The table below shows how they compare on the points people care about most.
| InstaSPY | Instagram app (logged in) | Password-based viewer apps | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Instagram account needed | No | Yes | Yes |
| Asks for your Instagram password | Never | Only Instagram itself | Yes, a major security risk |
| Your name appears in the viewer list | No | Yes | Often yes, the view is made from your account |
| Works in any browser | Yes | Limited without login | Usually app download only |
| Public stories | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Highlights, posts and reels | Yes | Yes | Varies |
| Private accounts | No, public only | Only if they accept you | Claims to, but cannot legitimately |
| Story alerts for tracked profiles | Yes, on paid plans | No | Rarely |
The key difference is the login. The Instagram app always ties your viewing to your account. Password-based apps are worse: they ask you to hand over your credentials, then perform actions from your account, which can get it flagged or stolen. InstaSPY needs neither, because it only works with content that is already public.
People use InstaSPY for ordinary, everyday reasons. The common thread is that they want to see public content without the friction of an account or the visibility of a viewer list.
InstaSPY only displays content that the owner has made public. It does not hack accounts, bypass privacy settings, or unlock anything that is restricted. If an account switches to private, its stories stop appearing on InstaSPY right away, exactly as they would for any stranger on Instagram.
You do not share any Instagram credentials, so there is nothing that can be stolen or misused. Searches are not linked to an Instagram identity. We recommend using the tool respectfully: viewing public content is fine, but harassment, stalking or reposting someone else's content without permission is not, and those rules apply no matter which tool you use.
Account owners who do not want their public profile shown on a third-party site can make their account private on Instagram at any time, or request removal of an indexed profile page through our removal form.
InstaSPY shows exactly what an account has made public, nothing more. Here is what that means in practice.
An empty stories tab almost always means the account has not posted in the last 24 hours. It is not an error.
