Using an Instagram story viewer on iPhone with Safari
Safari is the best browser for InstaSPY on iOS because it handles video playback efficiently and supports Add to Home Screen. Chrome and other browsers on iPhone work as well, since they all use Apple's browser engine underneath, but the Home Screen option is easiest to find in Safari.
On iPad the layout widens automatically, so stories and highlights fill more of the screen. In Split View you can keep InstaSPY open next to another app, which is handy when you are comparing several accounts or taking notes.
- Open Safari and go to instaspy.ai.
- Tap the search box, type the username and tap Search.
- Open the Stories or Highlights tab and tap a story to watch it full screen.
- To add a shortcut, tap the Share button, scroll down and choose Add to Home Screen.
The Home Screen shortcut opens InstaSPY in its own window, separate from your Safari tabs, so it feels like an app and does not get lost among other pages. It also remembers your InstaSPY sign-in if you have a plan, so you do not need to log in each time.
Private Browsing in Safari works too. Searches run normally, and Safari forgets the pages when you close the private tab, which is useful on a shared iPad.
Saving stories to Photos on iPhone
Downloads are available on paid plans. When you download a story, Safari saves it to the Downloads folder in the Files app by default. To move a photo or video into Photos, open Files, find the item in Downloads, tap the Share button and choose Save Image or Save Video.
Some iOS versions show a download icon in the Safari address bar while a file is saving. Tap it to see your recent downloads and open them directly. If you want downloads to go somewhere else, go to Settings, then Safari, then Downloads and pick a different folder.
Only save content you have a good reason to keep, such as your own stories or material you have permission to use, and respect the creator's rights.
Photos and videos saved this way keep the format Instagram served. Video stories arrive as MP4 files, which Photos plays and edits normally. If you use iCloud Photos, a saved story syncs to your other Apple devices like any other picture, so you may want to keep downloads in an album to find them easily.
To make an album, open Photos, tap Albums, tap the plus button and choose New Album. When you save a story, you can then add it to that album from the Share sheet. On iPad the steps are the same, and drag and drop from Files into Photos also works in Split View.
If storage is tight, remember that videos are larger than images. Delete downloads you no longer need from both Files and Photos, then empty Recently Deleted to free the space.
Common iOS issues and how to fix them
Most problems on iPhone come from Safari settings rather than the viewer itself.
- Video story shows a black screen: make sure Low Power Mode is off, then reload the page. Low Power Mode can pause video playback.
- Nothing happens when tapping Search: check that content blockers are not blocking the site. Tap the aA icon in Safari and turn content blockers off for this site.
- Story has no sound: check the silent switch or Action Button on your iPhone and the volume level.
- Add to Home Screen is missing: scroll down in the Share sheet, or tap Edit Actions to add it.
- Download does not appear in Photos: it is in the Files app under Downloads until you save it to Photos.
What you can and can't see on iPhone
The iPhone experience shows the same public content as every other device.
What you can see
- Live public stories and highlights
- Public reels, posts and profile details
- Full-screen playback on iPhone and iPad
What you can't see
- Private accounts
- Stories older than 24 hours unless saved as highlights
- Close friends stories or story viewer lists
Stories disappear 24 hours after posting unless the owner saves them to a highlight. If you want to keep a public story on your iPhone, save it before that window closes; once it has expired and was not highlighted, it is no longer available anywhere.
