How the Instagram follow tracker works

Type the username (or paste the profile URL) of the account you want to monitor. No Instagram login, no password, and the account owner is never notified.

For public accounts we pull the newest accounts they follow, ordered from most recent. For private accounts we lock onto their following count instead, which still reveals every new follow.

What is an Instagram follow tracker?

An Instagram follow tracker is a tool that watches a single Instagram account and reports which new accounts it starts following. Instagram itself has no such feature: the following list is shown roughly newest-first, but there is no history, no timestamp and no notification. If you want to know that someone followed a new account on Tuesday night, you have to open the app, open their profile, open the list and remember what it looked like the last time you checked. A follow tracker does that comparison for you and keeps a record, so a change that would normally disappear into a list of hundreds of accounts becomes a single, timestamped alert.

Our tracker runs entirely on public profile data. You enter a username, we resolve the profile, read the accounts it follows, and store a snapshot. Every later scan is compared to that snapshot, and anything that was not there before is flagged as a new follow. You never provide an Instagram password, you never log into Instagram, and nothing is posted, liked or viewed from your own account — which is why the account you are watching cannot see that you are watching.

How to see who someone recently followed

The manual method is to open the profile, tap Following, and read the list from the top. Instagram usually orders that list with the most recent follows first, so the accounts at the very top are the newest ones. The problem is that the ordering is not guaranteed, it silently reshuffles for accounts that follow thousands of people, and you have no way of knowing whether the name at the top appeared today or three months ago.

The tracked method removes the guesswork. On your first scan we save the full picture, and from then on every new account is explicitly labelled as new, with the time we detected it and the following count before and after the change. That gives you two things the app never provides: certainty that something actually changed, and a timestamp for when it changed.

What about private accounts?

A private account does not expose the names in its following list, and no legitimate tool can change that. What a private account does expose publicly is its following count. We track that number, so when it moves from 412 to 413 you get an alert telling you they followed one new account, when it happened, and what the count was before. You will not see the username, but you will know — reliably — that a new follow happened, which is usually the part people actually care about.

Instagram returns following lists newest-first, and we additionally diff every scan against the previous snapshot — so anything flagged as new really is new since your last check.

Can I see follows from before I started tracking?

You will see the newest accounts currently in their following list, but timestamps only begin from your first scan. Start tracking now and every later follow is timestamped.

Is this legal?
